Vera Everly

Hi, my name is
Vera Everly!

And dailyplatekitchen is my little corner of the internet!

I’m the voice, author, and creator behind dailyplatekitchen. I first picked up a camera and a notebook in the summer of 2016 while I was still working as a graphic designer in Portland, Oregon. My friends kept begging me for the recipes I was tweaking for dinner parties, so I launched the blog in March 2017 with a single post about lemon‑ricotta pancakes. That humble start sparked a habit of sharing a new recipe every week, and the kitchen became my favorite place to experiment.

Fast‑forward to today, dailyplatekitchen reaches about 180,000 unique visitors each month and has a newsletter community of 2,300 food lovers. I publish five fresh recipes weekly, and since 2020, ten of my dishes have been featured on the Food Network’s “Taste Test” segment. In 2021 I released my first cookbook, Everyday Plates, which sold 12,000 copies in its first year, and a second volume, Seasonal Simplicity, followed in 2023. The site now includes a searchable recipe index, a video tutorial hub, and a “pantry‑first” meal planner that many readers tell me has saved them time and money.

I live in Asheville, North Carolina, with my husband Mark and our two rescue cats, Basil and Juniper. When I’m not in front of the stove, you’ll find me hiking the Blue Ridge Mountains, tending to my herb garden, or digging through crates of vintage vinyl at the local record store. My favorite things are fresh basil, dark chocolate, and a well‑worn paperback that’s always on my nightstand.

A little quirk about me: I still keep a handwritten recipe journal that dates back to 2015, and every Sunday I roll out fresh pasta by hand—no machine, just a rolling pin and a lot of patience. Those simple moments are what I try to capture on dailyplatekitchen, hoping you’ll feel invited to join me at the table.
